Cari readers, oggi vi parlerò di “Second Chance Contract” dell’acclamata autrice di Bestseller americana M. Robinson.
Premetto che dalle prime righe mi sono ritrovata in un classico cliché: la sorella minore di uno dei personaggi che si innamora del migliore amico di lui, il tipico “bello e dannato” con un passato difficile.
Quello che però mi ha piacevolmente sorpreso, è stato l’evolversi della trama.
“Sarai sempre la mia ragazza numero uno”.
Autumn è un’affermata pubblicista, una delle migliori nel suo campo, che per diventare socia della società per cui lavora, dovrà lavorare con uno degli uomini più ricchi e rudi del mondo, soprannominato per questo “Alpha CEO”. L’uomo, altro non è che Julian, il suo primo amore, il miglior amico di suo fratello Christian.
“Con la sicurezza che emanava dalla testa ai piedi, nessuno avrebbe pensato che questa fosse la sua prima intervista ufficiale.
Quell’uomo aveva un modo di fare particolare. Non mostrava mai le sue emozioni, e vorrei potervi dire che era qualcosa che aveva sviluppato dopo avermi lasciato, ma non era così”.
L’autrice, con “Second Chance Contract” ci fa rivivere gli ultimi dieci anni della vita di Julian e Autumn. Il loro vissuto, mettendo a nudo i loro sentimenti, le fragilità, due universi così diversi eppure così perfettamente allineati.
Perché quando il vero amore ti si presenta davanti, non importa che tu abbia 10 anni o 40, sai perfettamente che è lui/lei la persona con la quale vorrai passere il resto della tua vita.
“Quando ero una bambina, pensavo di avere il potere di leggerlo attraverso i suoi luminosi occhi blu. Ma quando sono cresciuta, lui ha capito cosa avrei potuto vedere nel suo sguardo, ed è stato allora che ha smesso di mostrarmi le sue emozioni”.
Quello che però Autumn non aveva messo in conto, nella sua favola perfetta, era proprio il fatto che Julian era il miglior amico di suo fratello maggiore Christian e questo complicava ovviamente le cose.
Quello che tutti ci domandiamo però a questo punto è:
Autumn è mai stata corrisposta da Julian?
Alla fine, avrà il suo lieto fine o tutto finirà in un semplice contratto lavorativo?
Io ho letteralmente divorato il libro in 48 ore… riuscirete a battermi?

Dear Readers, Today I’m going to tell you about “Second Chance Contract” by the acclaimed American Bestselling author M. Robinson.
Let me preface this by saying that from the first lines I found myself in a classic cliché: the younger sister of one of the characters who falls in love with his best friend, the typical “handsome and damned” with a difficult past.
What pleasantly surprised me, however, was the evolution of the plot.
“You’ll always be my number one girl.”
Autumn is an established publicist, one of the best in her field, who in order to become a partner in the company she works for, will have to work with one of the richest and rudest men in the world, nicknamed for this reason “Alpha CEO”.
The man is none other than Julian, her first love, the best friend of her brother Christian.
“With the confidence he exuded from head to toe, no one would assume this was his first official interview.
The man had a way about him. He never wore his emotions on his sleeve, and I wish I could tell you this was something he’d developed after he’d left me, but it wasn’t.”
The author, with “Second Chance Contract” makes us relive the last ten years of Julian and Autumn’s lives.
Their lives, laying bare their feelings, fragilities, two universes so different yet so perfectly aligned. Because when true love presents itself to you, it doesn’t matter if you’re 10 years old or 40, you know perfectly well that he/she is the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
“When I was a little girl, I thought I had the power to read him through his bright, blue eyes. But as I got older, he realized what I could see in his gaze, and that was when he stopped showing me his emotions.”
What Autumn didn’t take into account in her perfect fairy tale was the fact that Julian was her older brother Christian’s best friend and this obviously complicated things.
What we are all wondering at this point is:
Was Autumn ever reciprocated by Julian?
In the end, will she get her happy ending or will it all end in a simple work contract?
I literally devoured the book in 48 hours…can you beat me?
